FILM: 'Lost Olympic Sports' by KT Auleta

 

NOWNESS presents three Super 8 shorts that playfully memorialize three sports that have disappeared from the Olympics over the last century.

Taking advantage of the rich color tones film affords, photographer and filmmaker KT Auleta, who has shot for the likes of Viktor & Rolf, Opening Ceremony and Louis Vuitton, and lensed editorials for Elle, i-D and Vogue, created minimalist conceptual sets and let the models take center stage.

NOWNESS celebrates the Olympic Opening Ceremony by asking the Creative Directors of fashion boutique Opening Ceremony, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, to dream up a takeover of the launch event.

With Chloë Sevigny lighting the flame, RuPaul leading a catwalk of nations, and Beyoncé in a stellar duet with Björk, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim’s dream takeover is interpreted as a series of surreal color-themed collages—and an exclusive downloadable poster—by star multimedia artist Quentin Jones.
